Improve the quality of your printing on flexible packages

Printing on food packaging poses a significant challenge: achieving an optimal result while complying with strict health regulations governing materials used for food packaging.

You can achieve this with Kempro resins—resins specifically designed for printing on flexible film.

LKempro’s PU resins allow you to formulate inks for a variety of applications such as printing on paper, board, plastics and other substrates. Unlike traditional formulations using nitrocellulose (NC), inks based solely on PU resins can provide greater flexibility and abrasion resistance, as well as being more environmentally friendly. In some cases, they can even be formulated with fewer volatile solvents, thereby reducing the risks of VOC emissions.

Kempro’s broad portfolio of solvent-based resins includes:

Saturated polyester resins for both 2C systems (with reactive hydroxyl groups) and 1C systems.
Thermostable acrylic resins for 2C systems with hydroxyl groups that enable crosslinking.
Thermoplastic acrylic resins for 1C systems.
Polyurethane resins for 1C systems and nitrocellulose inks.

In this article we wish to highlight the range designed for ink formulation, which includes these series:

KROL PPF: conventional PU resins for gravure and flexographic ink formulations in NC systems. They offer excellent adhesion on flexible plastic substrates.
KROL PUP: elastomeric PU resins for gravure and flexographic ink formulations. They provide outstanding adhesion, high resistance to abrasion, blocking and heat, and excellent flexibility.
KROL ACS: thermoplastic acrylic resins for inks on PVC. They produce transparent, rigid films with excellent adhesion.

In addition, KROL LAC M is also available. It is an acrylic lacquer used as a primer for metallic surfaces such as metallised OPP, metallised PET and foil. It provides high UV resistance, transparency and a glossy finish.
