Comindex joins the Responsible Care programme

COMINDEX joined Spain’s Responsible Care (RC) programme for chemical product distributors in March 2016.

The Responsible Care programme is a voluntary, worldwide initiative of commitment by the chemical industry with the goal of ensuring the member companies of the programme are committed to ongoing improvement in the performance of their business activities in terms of safety, health protection, the environment and open, honest communication in line with the principles of sustainable development.

Throughout Europe, in excess of 300 chemical distribution firms are committed to the RC programme, an international initiative implemented in more than 50 countries all over the world.

In Spain, more than 60% of the chemical sector has joined the RC programme. The Spanish Chemical Trade Association (AECQ) manages the RC programme for chemical product distributors, based on the RC programme implemented by the FECC (European Association of Chemical Distributors). The latter is underpinned by the eight guiding principles of the ICTA (International Chemical Trade Association), affording companies a host of advantages, including the following:

Contributing substantially to the achievement of sustainable development.
Demonstrating that operations unfold in a responsible manner.
Joining the mass of leading companies that are already RC programme members.
Improving a company’s image and reputation among employees, authorities, customers and the general public.
Encouraging compliance with regulations.
Reducing environmental, health and safety risks.
Optimising operational conditions.
