Decontaminate both exteriors and interiors

Decontaminate both exteriors and interiors

At Comindex, we assist with decontamination in both outdoor and indoor environments via the ADINSclean formulation.

ADINSclean is a photocatalytic additive that degrades organic material through the action of sunlight. Based on a sepiolite – a needle-shaped mineral – doped with TiO2 nanoparticles, it features technology that is unique on the market and provides the following advantages:

  • Safer handling through avoiding exposure to nanoparticles
  • Larger specific surface area as agglomerates are not formed, achieving greater effectiveness with lower dosages
  • Easier dispersion on the matrix

Its incorporation in paint formulations helps to eliminate exterior dirt and reduce atmospheric pollution (VOCs and nitrogen oxides), resulting in self-cleaning and decontaminating façades. As a result, we can reduce maintenance costs – it is possible to reduce the frequency of façade cleaning – while we help to ensure cleaner air.

Furthermore, VOCs are not the only element measured in interior paints. There are other long-lasting volatiles – semi-volatile organic compounds – which also need to be controlled as they take a long time to evaporate. Using ADINSClean in your interior paint formulations can help to break them down, reducing emissions of volatiles.

As the UV component of visible light is required to catalyse the conversion of organic material, effectiveness is always greater outdoors. However, we can control the variables indoors and optimal performance conditions can be sought. Tests have been carried out with white fluorescent light, which could be improved with certain LEDs, but the UV component is always required.

Its use is not limited to paints alone; it can also be incorporated into other formulations, such as asphalt, mortars, concretes and ceramics.
