Quartzene from Svenska Aerogel is a precipitated amorphous silica in aerogel form that is used in most applications as a functional additive and offers the following properties:

High reflection and low IR transmission
Thermal insulation
Fire resistance
High porosity: prevents the formation of condensation
Low thermal conductivity
Hydrophobicity

We offer both hydrophilic and hydrophobic grades, with different particle sizes suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

1) Hydrophilic grades
- Quartzene Z1
  - Improves thermal insulation
  - Reduces weight and increases product volume
  - Excellent flame-retardant additive
  - Suitable for coatings, renders, self-levelling floors and construction panels
- Quartzene Z2
  - Larger particle size
  - Allows higher incorporation levels
  - Reduced dust generation
  - Fine texture and matt effect
Hydrophobic grades
- Quartzene Z1H1
  - Hydrophobic version of Z1
  - The most hydrophobic grade in the range
  - Suitable for applications where moisture absorption must be zero
  - Can be incorporated into acrylic, polyurethane, silicone and vinyl acetate systems
  - Suitable for construction panels and sealants
- Quartzene Z2H1
  - Hydrophobic version of Z2
  - Lower impact on viscosity than Z1H1
  - Can be added in higher quantities
  - Fine texture and matt effect in thin layers

Quartzene products not only act as thermal insulators, they also allow for the formulation of paints with additional functionalities such as flame-retardant, intumescent or anticorrosive properties, while also improving certain characteristics such as mechanical and structural resistance.
