Galasolv NF 62 is a biodegradable, non-flammable lactic acid ester-based solvent produced by Galactic. It is a safe, environmentally-friendly alternative that does not hinder performance in production processes.

This polar protic biosolvent contains oxygenated groups. It has high boiling point meaning it is useful to increase open time in solvent-borne coatings. It is also used as a coalescent agent in water-borne formulations.

Since it has an average evaporation rate, it may also be in contact with a surface for longer making it easier to remove paints and varnishes.

Galactic has developed a complete range of lactic acid ester-based biosolvents. Many conventional solvents may be replaced with these environmentally-friendly solvents. They can be used in a host of sectors: coatings, cosmetics, industrial cleaning, crop-protection products, etc. What is more, the results obtained are on a par to and even exceed those obtained from regular solvents and at a fair price.

Galactic’s headquarters are in Belgium and the company has manufacturing plants in the USA, Europe and China. Galactic has more than 20 years’ experience in lactic acid fermentation and the development of other lactic acid by-products. Galactic is always producing sustainable, innovative solutions that are safe for health in the field of green chemistry.
