Microparticles for providing a range of surface enhancements: Techpolymer from Sekisui Plastics

We offer the Techpolymer range of products from Sekisui Plastics: microparticles of plastic, spheres and other morphologies with a range of particle sizes used to improve the surface properties of paints, plastics and ceramics.

Use of Techpolymer microparticles affords a number of improvements including the following:

  • Anti-blocking
  • Scratch resistance
  • Polishing / burnishing resistance
  • Wear strength
  • Soft feel effect
  • Ceramic porosity

The MBX and ARX series are especially noteworthy:

  • The Techpolymer MBX series consists of polymethylmethacrylate microspheres used essentially to improve mechanical resistance, anti-slip effect and to provide ceramics with porosity.
  • The Techpolymer ARX series consists of polyacrylic ester microspheres used essentially to improve mechanical strength and provide a soft feel effect.


Sekisui Plastics was set up in 1959 and employs more than 1800 workers the world over. Its primary line of business centres on the manufacture of expanded polystyrene foam for industrial and food packaging. It currently operates several manufacturing plants in Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and the USA. It also has commercial offices and distributors throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
