VEGERUST TP y TP-V, new rust converters from Labema

VEGERUST TP y TP-V, new rust converters from Labema

Thursday, 12 November, 2015
Laboratoires LABEMA has developed two new rust converters for primers and solvent-based paints: VEGERUST TP y VEGERUST TP-V. The active ingredient of these converters is a chelating agent that converts the residual ferrous oxide metal surfaces (steel or iron) in an organic complex.

The difference between the VEGERUST TP and VEGERUST TP-V is that in the first, part of the carbon content is from a fossil origin and in the second (with the V in its name) all the carbon source is 100% vegetable.

Primers formulated with VEGERUST TP and TP-V can be applied directly onto oxidized substrates. The result is a conversion layer that can be treated or coated with a layer of topcoat.

Both references may also be used as anticorrosion additives in formulations of solvent-based with alkyd resins, epoxy and acrylic. Not recommended for water-based formulations, since due to their chemical nature would act more as a coalescing agent.

Recommended dosage, in coatings as well as in primers, is between 3 and 5% by weight on the total formulation.

These two new references are now included in the range of Labema products, already present in the market with EMADOX, AB RUST and VEGERUST.

From 1989 Labema, a French company, develops and produces corrosion-inhibiting additives for paints and industrial coatings worldwide and for lubricants, detergents, wood treatments, cooling systems and special fuels manufacturers.
