Wood bleed through: prevention is better than cure.

Comindex distributes Necowel 4300, a water-based alkyd emulsion for the formulation of tannin-blocking primers. It is well known that hardwoods and tropical woods often bear the problem of tannin migration that causes dark and unsightly stains once the wood has been painted, particularly with light colours.

This resin, manufactured by ASK Chemicals, is VOC- and APEO-free. It is excellent at penetrating and wetting the wood fibre, locking in the colour, thus offering excellent protection against bleed through. The primer is very easy to formulate as it does not require any additives other than siccative.
