We are back with our in-person seminars for the paints sector–seminars we hold every year in conjunction with our partner BYK.

This year, the chosen topics will be as follows:

BYK: Innovative surface additives: regulatory compliance with added value

Surface tension is responsible for many surface defects such as poor substrate wetting, crater formation and Bénard cells, spray mottle, orange peel, etc.; however, there are further factors that influence the movement of liquid paint and have consequences for the final coating. During this presentation, all factors impacting the appearance of the cured coating in various types of technologies will be explained.

During the seminar, we will set out the theoretical foundation behind the various families of surface additives and offer suitable tools to make an appropriate selection of these products according to the specific requirements of each case, providing formulations and practical examples to achieve the best surface properties. In addition, at BYK we view regulatory compliance not only as a legal obligation, but also as a mechanism to ensure quality, safety and sustainability, and also as a strategic advantage for manufacturers committed to innovation and distinction. To achieve these objectives, we will present the latest developments, both those responding to the current regulatory pressure by providing safe solutions free of hazard phrases on labelling, and those offering solutions to the latest technological challenges in the sector.

Comindex: Varnishes that transform surfaces

In this seminar, we will explore the world of varnishes from an everyday and visual perspective: a home as the setting for the different surfaces we encounter in our daily lives, and the technologies that allow us to protect and enhance them.

Through a tour of the different rooms of this “house of applications”, we will explore solutions that combine sustainability, functionality and aesthetics. We will see examples of varnishes formulated with water-borne resins, 100% solids and solvent-based systems, together with the additives and modifiers that optimise their performance.

Comindex offers a complete range of products to achieve formulations suitable for each substrate: from the living-room parquet floor or wooden furniture to the garage flooring or the roof finish.

The aim is to provide a practical, accessible and technical view of how varnishes can be formulated, demonstrating the added value our technologies bring to the durability, gloss and sustainability of coatings.

The seminars will be delivered in Spanish at the Spain venues and in Portuguese at the Portugal venues.
