Would you like to know what differentiates ARMIPENT reinforcement fibres – distributed by Comindex – and what their applications are?

Continue reading and we will explain!

ARMIPENT reinforcement fibres, manufactured by our represented company FINMA, are polyolefin fibres that have been modified with silica for the formulation of coatings, paints, adhesives and cement and gypsum-based products.

Thanks to the incorporation of these fibres, a three-dimensional network is created within the system. Thus, we improve the tensile and flexural properties and the viscosity can also be adjusted.

Unlike other fibres on the market, ARMIPENT has excellent compatibility with all types of systems and is very easy to incorporate thanks to its silica content.

Processing with silica achieves a homogenous distribution of the fibres, avoiding clumping and facilitating their incorporation and application.

We have three products – Armipent 532, Armipent 542 and Armipent 5152 – with different fibre lengths depending on the thickness of the application.

And now that you know what our product is like, here are several ideas on where you can incorporate it and why:

  • Paints and coatings: In addition to improving the consistency, it allows film thickness to be increased without producing cracks and enables the viscosity to be optimised for vertical applications.
  • Impermeable coatings or membranes: The non-polar nature of the polyolefin means that it has little tendency to swell. As such, it presents good properties against water and water vapour. And it achieves all this without affecting the drying time of the coating.
  • Cementitious self-levelling compounds: It improves the flexibility and consistency of the mortar and minimises microcracks generated by cement shrinkage.
  • Gypsum: Its incorporation gives consistency to these systems, allowing vertical applications with high thicknesses and enabling joints between sheets to be filled without cracks appearing.
  • Dispersion tile adhesives: It achieves better tile adhesion on vertical surfaces at the same time as increasing the consistency of the adhesive. In addition, it reduces the formation of cracks due to contraction.
